Spirito di squadra unico e sensazione di pelle d'oca: La Barcolana di Trieste
Più di 2.500 barche, oltre 28.000 velisti, circa 300.000 spettatori - stiamo parlando della più grande regata velica del mondo: la famosa Barcolana nel Golfo di Trieste sponsorizzata da Generali.
"Siete interessati a partecipare alla Generali Cup e alla Barcolana dal 12 al 14 ottobre 2018 a Trieste?" Quando ho letto questo annuncio sul Löwennetz (Intranet di Generali Germania) in occasione del 50° anniversario della Barcolana, da appassionato velista per hobby non ho esitato e ho presentato immediatamente la mia candidatura.
Ho scoperto la vela per conto mio 25 anni fa. È la combinazione unica di persone, natura e tecnologia innovativa che mi affascina tanto di questo sport acquatico. Si tratta di velocità, strategia e spirito di squadra. Non sorprende quindi che l'idea di salpare insieme ai colleghi di Generali provenienti da tutto il mondo mi abbia immediatamente affascinato.
Il 13 ottobre 2018 è arrivato il momento: dopo un lungo processo di selezione, ho avuto la grande fortuna di salpare su un veliero di Generali come "foresailor" insieme ai colleghi di Generali provenienti da Italia, Francia, Argentina e Germania nel Golfo di Trieste. Come una squadra leonessa, siamo anche riusciti a conquistare il secondo posto. La ciliegina sulla torta di questa grande competizione: la cerimonia di premiazione personale da parte del nostro Group CEO Philippe Donnet.
La potenza del nostro leone alato e la sensazione di far parte della nostra grande famiglia Generali erano più tangibili che mai per me questo fine settimana sulla costa settentrionale italiana. E ciò che mi rende particolarmente felice: ho incontrato molti grandi colleghi internazionali con i quali sono ancora in contatto.

Unique team spirit and pure goosebump feeling: The Barcolana in Trieste
I have been part of our large Generali family for around 15 years. Starting as a senior consultant, I am now Board member of Generali Deutschland Krankenversicherung (Health) and head of the customer service directorates in Cologne. Today I would like to tell you about my personal Generali moment, which I always remember with joy:
More than 2,500 boats, over 28,000 sailors, around 300,000 spectators – we are talking about the largest sailing regatta in the world: the famous Barcolana in the Gulf of Trieste sponsored by Generali.
"Are you interested in participating in the Generali Cup and the Barcolana from 12 to 14 October 2018 in Trieste?" When I read this announcement in the Löwennetz (Intranet by Generali Germany) on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Barcolana, as a passionate hobby sailor I didn’t hesitate and immediately submitted my application.
I discovered sailing for myself 25 years ago. It is the unique combination of people, nature and innovative technology that fascinates me so much about this water sport. It's about speed, strategy and team spirit. So it's no surprise that the idea of setting sail together with Generali colleagues from all over the world immediately captivated me.
On 13rd of October 2018, the time had come: after an extensive selection process, I had the great fortune to set sail on a Generali sailing ship as "foresailor" together with Generali colleagues from Italy, France, Argentina and Germany in the Gulf of Trieste. As a lion-strong team, we even managed to take second place. The cherry on the cake of this great competition: the personal award ceremony by our Group CEO Philippe Donnet.
The power of our winged lion and the feeling of being part of our big Generali family were more tangible than ever for me this weekend on the northern Italian coast. And what makes me particularly happy: I met many great international colleagues with whom I am still in touch today.
