Unique team spirit and pure goosebump feeling: The Barcolana in Trieste
More than 2,500 boats, over 28,000 sailors, around 300,000 spectators – we are talking about the largest sailing regatta in the world: the famous Barcolana in the Gulf of Trieste sponsored by Generali.
"Are you interested in participating in the Generali Cup and the Barcolana from 12 to 14 October 2018 in Trieste?" When I read this announcement in the Löwennetz (Intranet by Generali Germany) on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Barcolana, as a passionate hobby sailor I didn’t hesitate and immediately submitted my application.
I discovered sailing for myself 25 years ago. It is the unique combination of people, nature and innovative technology that fascinates me so much about this water sport. It's about speed, strategy and team spirit. So it's no surprise that the idea of setting sail together with Generali colleagues from all over the world immediately captivated me.
On 13rd of October 2018, the time had come: after an extensive selection process, I had the great fortune to set sail on a Generali sailing ship as "foresailor" together with Generali colleagues from Italy, France, Argentina and Germany in the Gulf of Trieste. As a lion-strong team, we even managed to take second place. The cherry on the cake of this great competition: the personal award ceremony by our Group CEO Philippe Donnet.
The power of our winged lion and the feeling of being part of our big Generali family were more tangible than ever for me this weekend on the northern Italian coast. And what makes me particularly happy: I met many great international colleagues with whom I am still in touch today.

I have been part of our large Generali family for around 15 years. Starting as a senior consultant, I am now Board member of Generali Deutschland Krankenversicherung (Health) and head of the customer service directorates in Cologne. Today I would like to tell you about my personal Generali moment, which I always remember with joy:
