Un futuro più sostenibile
Allo stesso tempo, il mio lavoro mi ha insegnato quanto impatto abbiano le attività umane sul nostro mondo e quanto velocemente il cambiamento climatico stia mettendo in pericolo le nostre vite. Gli eventi estremi legati al clima stanno diventando sempre più frequenti e gravi, danneggiando le comunità, soprattutto nelle aree più povere. Per questo motivo, ritengo cruciale l'impegno di Generali volto a sostenere la riduzione degli impatti negativi sull'ambiente, sviluppando al contempo nuove soluzioni per l'adattamento ai cambiamenti climatici. Come Gruppo assicurativo che opera in tutto il mondo, abbiamo l’opportunità di aiutare le persone a ridurre le proprie emissioni, ad esempio attraverso la mobilità a basse emissioni o garantendo la produzione di energia rinnovabile.
Nel mentre abbiamo le competenze per aiutare le persone ad adottare misure per limitare i danni causati da eventi estremi. Ecco perché stiamo lavorando per ridurre il Protection Gap, uno sforzo estremamente rilevante per due motivi. In primo luogo, migliora la qualità della vita delle persone soggette a disastri naturali, rendendo anche le economie locali più resilienti. In secondo luogo, la riduzione dei rischi consente ad assicurazioni come Generali di offrire premi accessibili anche in quei settori che, senza alcuna misura di adeguamento, sarebbero altrimenti difficilmente o per nulla assicurabili. È il caso, ad esempio, di alcune zone degli Stati Uniti e dell’Australia dove le persone non possono essere coperte da un’assicurazione perché i rischi legati al clima a cui sono soggette sono troppo elevati
Le assicurazioni sostengono la società aumentando la resilienza e continueremo i nostri sforzi per promuovere una società più giusta, rafforzando al tempo stesso l’economia. Dobbiamo lavorare insieme per aiutare le persone a costruire un futuro più sicuro.

A more sustainable future
I live in a city where breath-taking cliffs connect the sea with the surrounding hills and where hundreds of different species of animals, fish and plants coexist in just a few square kilometres. Maybe this is the reason why I have learnt to appreciate the beauty of nature so much.
At the same time, my job has taught me how much impact human activities have on our world and how quickly climate change is endangering our lives. Extreme climate-related events are becoming increasingly frequent and severe, harming communities, especially in the poorest areas. For this reason, I think that Generali’s efforts to support the reduction of negative impacts on the environment, while developing new solutions to adapt to climate change is crucial. As an insurance Group operating all over the world, we have the opportunity to help people reduce their emissions, for example through low-emitting mobility or by ensuring the production of renewable energy.
In the same way, we have the expertise to help people adopt measures to limit the damages caused by extreme events. That’s why we are working to reduce the protection gap, an effort that is extremely relevant for two reasons. Firstly, it improves the quality of life for people that are subject to natural disasters, making local economies more resilient too. Secondly, the reduction of risks allows insurance companies like Generali to offer affordable premiums even in those areas that, without any adapting measure, would otherwise be barely or not at all insurable. This is the case, for example, of some areas of the USA and Australia where people cannot be covered by insurance because the climate-related risks they are subject to are too high.
Insurance supports society by increasing resilience, and we will continue our efforts to boost a more just society, while also strengthening the economy. We must work together to help people to shape a safer future.
