Persone... È sempre stata una questione di persone.

In un viaggio durato 25 anni, come si può isolare un solo momento decisivo? È quasi impossibile, soprattutto per chi ha avuto l'eccezionale fortuna di vivere tanti momenti memorabili e speciali nella propria vita professionale in Generali.

Ci sono così tante cose da ricordare, ma per me si tratta sempre di persone. I talentuosi colleghi che hanno prestato la loro sconfinata energia, curiosità, tenacia e talento per dare vita a una visione comune. Una comunità di persone eccezionali, legate da un profondo senso di rispetto reciproco e da una chiara comprensione del loro più alto scopo.

Qui, nella sede di Generali Hellas, gli ultimi 5 anni sono stati segnati dalla perdita di quattro indimenticabili amici e colleghi eccezionali. Giorgos, Dimitra, Dionyssis e Gravilos saranno per sempre legati ai miei ricordi di Generali. Anche se ci sono mancati molto, non è la loro assenza a pesare, ma piuttosto il loro inestimabile contributo. Per me sono un vivido e costante ricordo di tutti quegli ingredienti essenziali che trasformano una semplice squadra... in una famiglia. È in quell'unità di mente, cuore e scopo... che si crea la magia.

Per la nostra famiglia, il nostro scopo è sempre stato chiaro. Articolato in modo eloquente nelle semplici parole della missione dell'azienda: "proteggere attivamente e migliorare la vita delle persone". Quanto è potente questo messaggio, quando le vite in questione - bisognose di protezione - sono quelle della vostra famiglia. Per il team di Generali in Grecia, la natura profondamente umana del nostro business - che non è altro che l'effettiva capacità di impattare e cambiare la vita delle persone - è sempre stata la forza che ci guida. È questa verità che guida le nostre azioni e alimenta i nostri sforzi.

"È da mia moglie e dai miei figli che traggo la forza per continuare a lottare", ha detto il mio caro amico e collega Dionyssis, nel bel mezzo della sua battaglia di quattro anni contro il melanoma. "È la mia seconda famiglia, Generali, che mi permette di gestire la mia malattia, con dignità".

Ai miei amici e colleghi - passati e presenti - qui in Generali Hellas, dico che è un onore lavorare al vostro fianco. Sappiate che mi ispirate. Sono molto orgoglioso di far parte della nostra storia speciale. Quest'anno, mentre celebriamo 135 anni di attività nel nostro mercato locale e ci prepariamo a intraprendere un nuovo ed entusiasmante viaggio sulla scia della nostra recente acquisizione, non dimentichiamo mai il prezioso contributo di tutti coloro che ci hanno preceduto. Non dimentichiamo mai che non c'è nulla di più profondo della dignità che siamo in grado di offrire a migliaia di persone che affidano la loro vita alle nostre cure.

People… It has always been about the people.

Ιn a journey that has spanned 25 years, how can you isolate just one defining  moment? It is near impossible, especially for someone that has been exceptionally fortunate to have experienced so many memorable and special moments in their professional life at Generali.

There is so much to recall – yet for me, it has always been about the People. The talented colleagues that lent their boundless, energy, curiosity, tenacity and talent, to give life to a common vision. An outstanding community of people, bound together by a deep sense of respect for one another and a clear understanding of their higher purpose.

Here, at the home of Generali Hellas, the past 5 years have been marked by the loss of four unforgettable friends and exceptional colleagues. Giorgos, Dimitra, Dionyssis and Gravilos will forever be connected with my memories of Generali. Although dearly missed, it is not their absence that lingers, but rather their invaluable contribution. For me, they are a vivid and constant reminder of all those essential ingredients that transform a mere team… into a family. It is in that unity of mind, heart and purpose… that magic is created.

For our family, our purpose has always been clear. Articulated eloquently in the simple words of the Company’s mission: “to actively protect and enhance people’s lives”. How potent a message this is, when the lives in question -in need of protection- are those of your family. For the Generali team in Greece, the deeply human nature of our business - which is none other than the actual ability to impact and change people’s lives - has always been the force that drives us. It is this truth that guides our actions and fuels our efforts.

“It is from my wife and my children that I draw the strength to keep fighting”, said my dear friend and colleague Dionyssis, in the midst of his four-year battle with melanoma. “It is my second family, Generali, that allows me to manage my illness, with dignity”.

To my friends and colleagues - past and present - here at Generali Hellas, I say that it is an honor to work by your side. Know that you inspire me. I am so very proud to be a part of our special history. This year, as we celebrate 135 years of operation in our local market, and as we prepare to embark on a new and exciting journey in the wake of our recent acquisition, let us never forget the invaluable contribution of all those who came before us. Let us also never forget that there is nothing more profound than the dignity we are able to offer thousands of people, who place their lives in our care.
