AI helps interpret baby cries: a HITS Startup and the maker of Maxi Cosi announce an innovative partnership

Zoundream, an innovative startup from Switzerland created an AI solution that translates the cries of a baby helping significantly first-time parents by providing information on newborn’s basic needs. HITS and Generali helped to train Zoundream’s AI.

Zoundream is a startup from the HITS Innovation Garage (House of InsurTech Switzerland), a Generali company. Generali and HITS helped Zoundream to improve their AI-based Baby Cry Translator by involving the innovation teams from 8 Generali Business Units: Italy, Switzerland, Germany, France, Spain, Hong Kong, JenIoT and Europ Assistance. Generali and HITS worked hand-in-hand in recruiting parents expecting babies to test the Zoundream solution. After 2 successful pilots, the joint collaboration earned Gold at the EFMA Awards in 2021 (now named Qorus).

Furthermore, Zoundream have been busy pitching its innovative solution with various baby monitor manufacturers, eventually closing a partnership with Dorel Juvenile, a leading global manufacturer of baby products, owner of the world-renowned brand, Maxi Cosi. Recently, Zoundream announced that its software is now embedded into the Maxi Cosi See Pro baby monitor.

It is a major breakthrough in the field of child well-being that brings the first AI-based Baby Cry Analysis technology to the market with the Maxi Cosi baby monitor. This system is the result of years of research that today, at last, allow parents to interpret the cries of their babies between 0-6 months more accurately and effectively, providing clear indications on the five basic needs of their children: sleepy, hungry, needing to burp, discomfort, or irritated. But the end game, beyond identifying the basic needs, is helping parents identify possible neurodevelopmental conditions and pathologies much earlier than with traditional methods, such as ADHD, Autism, and others.

Thanks to the expertise and support of our colleagues at Generali and HITS given to the startup, Zoundream and Dorel have created a unique solution, capable of making the initial phase of parenthood more informed and reassuring. More news to come on how this collaboration will grow with further involvement of Generali. Stay tuned!

Congratulations to all our colleagues who made this innovative achievement possible!
