Sustainable innovation

According to the UN Global Compact report of 2017 the globally present issues such as climate changes, water crises, poverty, conflicts and absence of equal chances require addressing which constitutes a large and growing market for business innovation and a chance for business initiative whereas the transformation of the business models and systems for the future will have to significantly include integrity and values.
Namely, the comprehensive incorporation of the UN Global Compact’s Ten Principles into the strategies and operations as well as understanding that good practices or innovation reserved for one area cannot compensate the irresponsible actions in another business area, presents a starting point for companies wanting to advance the SDG agenda.
“Trends suggest that the public is no longer satisfied with corporations that focus solely on short-term profits. A recent study comparing companies that adopted environmental and social policies with companies that didn’t supports this view. However, few companies are born with a commitment to sustainability. To develop one, companies need leadership commitment, an ability to engage with multiple stakeholders along the value chain, employee engagement and disciplined mechanisms for execution.”(The MIT Sloan review, 2017).
Generali initiatives that are applicable in every member country of the Group are for me an example of an Responsible employer that influences and makes important changes in everyday practice by implementing new technologies in a previously slow business environment.
The Lion Power program, which has changed the way we think about our work and our contribution every day. Projects implemented within this program, such as the Paperless tool, Claim online applications, Claim Tracking status, have changed both the internal slow processes in claim management and the way our clients now communicate with us, with less paper and wasted time.
The Smart Automation program as an example of enthusiasm and desire to learn and master new technologies, which help us in our daily repetitive work, proved to us that we can be on the map of global events even in this topic. The local RPA team managed to do a business analysis and develop dozens of new automatic processes, to conquer the new Uipath technology with the help of creative employees and with the We Learn master program organized by the Group with the help of Deloitte and the Politechnico di Torino.
Both initiatives complement each other and make us work differently, with the awareness that we are responsible towards nature because we save the unnecessary consumption of paper, fuel and time that previously had to be spent to realize different claims and other administrative tasks with Generali, while now we complete them remotely with the help of new processes .
I wanted to share how much I am proud to be a part of this new future of Generali Osiguranja Srbija together with my colleagues from the RPA team, Claim and Technical department.
Open innovation collaboration with academia as well as insurance business process experts can always lead to new sustainable practice in everyday work, which we proved in practice, in order to conclude that Generali Serbia is a sustainable company which is lead by example and a true leader in domestic market with inspired people that are valuable asset for the future.
