Cycling for a Healthy Body and Environment

Sustainable practices were ingrained in my family even before I knew the word "sustainability." It was part of our daily habits, and it's one of the important values I received for life. "Act wisely, as you are not alone in this world" was firmly anchored in my mind.
So, even when I started working at Generali, I remained true to my values. Furthermore, I am proud and happy to work in a company where sustainability is one of the guiding principles. Therefore, in our efforts towards sustainability, we can be a great example not only to our colleagues but also to society. We have long been committed to responsible use of resources (electricity, water), transitioning to sustainable heating methods that minimize environmental impact, and promoting paperless operations. I am pleased to personally contribute to making our vehicle fleet more environmentally friendly every day, including the addition of bicycles that enable quick commuting for colleagues in the city center.
In December, an opportunity arose to join another sustainable initiative with colleagues, benefiting both our environment and a vulnerable group of high school and college students who cannot afford significant expenses. In collaboration with the Student Residence in the city of Koper, a campaign to collect bicycles was launched – not necessarily new ones, but also used or those that have been sitting in garages gathering dust for years. Students, with a desire for a more sustainable mobility solution, envisioned acquiring a larger number of bicycles that they could borrow among themselves. And here we came in, as a responsible team of colleagues! The campaign started through our intranet, and I am proud to say that several colleagues responded in the first few days after the announcement. The collection is not yet complete, so I am confident that the dedication of my colleagues in offering assistance will once again surprise me, as it has countless times before. I am glad that together we are walking the path that changes people's lives for the better!

Cycling for a Healthy Body and Environment
I belong to the generation that was already being taught about the issues related to the ozone layer, deforestation of the Amazon rainforest, and the problem of air and environmental pollution. As children, we participated in environmental cleanup actions at least once a year in school, cleaning up our surroundings from litter and waste. To prevent deforestation, we collected waste paper twice a year at school. The class that performed the best was rewarded with a large cake. I still remember the sweetness of its taste, not just because of the victory, but because of the belief that together we did something good for our planet.
