To those who are reading my story for now, my name is Nancy Do, Executive Assistant to CEO of Generali Vietnam. People may think that a story shared here should be some memory, some beautiful past event but mine has not finished yet at Generali Vietnam, in fact, it has just started. This journey is comprised of chapters of emotions and memories, but the theme for the whole story, I am so proud to say, is that “I feel happy waking up every morning going to work.”

I am so lucky to work with great minds and big hearts. It was said that one hour talking with a wise man is better than years of studying. Quite frankly, Tina is the most high-demanding but perfectly rational boss I have ever worked for. I must admit that I made mistakes from time to time, and most of the times, I feel much under pressure. Do not get me wrong. I am totally aware that “Pressure makes diamonds”. I have always told myself that “Hey Nancy, take it as the chance to shape yourself into a new higher level”. And again, fortunately, she is a tolerant boss as well. And at the end of the day, I feel her care and notice how kind she is to me and other people. It, initially, sounded lonesome to be in a department of only 2 persons, I mean Tina and me. It turned out the other way around when I work with almost all departments of the Company to provide administration support to her. After three months working here, I expressed my intention of extending my scope to one other field which I am really interested in. I do not flatter people, but I have to say that I feel lucky to have her total support and her trust. I got her yes to go to Communications and CSR team.

I am welcomed to the team where I can live with my passion, contribute my skills and knowledge, and learn countless new things. I enjoy working with this small group of smart and hardworking people as I have learnt from them and built professional skills with those competent humans. They are My Nguyen, Ha Chau, Hien Tran and Long Ho. It is to say that working in CSR is such a challenging job as we have to deal with various stakeholders (government officials, parents from different walks of life, even celebrities, etc.), and move from place to place in so short a time no matter what the weather is like, no matter whether there is a natural disaster, no matter how far it is from Saigon, no matter how dangerous to reach the destinations. They are there to give their hands to people in need in a timely and loving manner. I had my first trip for the very first “Sinh Con, Sinh Cha” event of 2021 and my hat is off to them since they have been working so hard to successfully run and expand this program. It takes compassion, diligence, relentless efforts, resilience and a lot of passion to work in CSR area.

One thing that makes me happy to be in this team is the chance for me to grow. Again, I have yet another strict and demanding ‘boss’. Most of my works for internal posts are broadly corrected by My Nguyen and I got upset sometimes. However, the next second, I realized how dedicated she is to sit down, read my work and fix them for me. In other words, I am being trained to enhance my writing skills, which may cost a lot for a professional course. I really appreciate her time and her heart. What is more? Much as a newbie, I have been acknowledged by My and the whole team. One of the beautiful inner rewards for a team player is we are aware that we are a valued asset to the team. I am looking forward to joining them in upcoming CSR events to help and to grow.

Furthermore, I really appreciate the chance of working in one of the top world insurers because I have education background for 6 years and I am welcomed here where I can contribute and grow thanks to Diversity and Inclusion policy. Adding to it, I can feel the Group really focuses on its people. It is not always about work, sales numbers and profits but the most important thing, at the end of the day, are the commitments, the love, the trust, the loyalty from the people who work for an organization vest in it. I strongly believe that ‘human touch’ being one of the 4 key Lifetime Partner Behaviours would be key in bringing Generali to the 190th anniversary and many more to come. Inevitably, we are sometimes faced with challenges and confusion during work. It dawned on me that SOHI culture does help myself and my coworkers navigate to success and even grow beyond expectations. The culture awakes and optimizes our inner strengths to rise high and above. I love working here as it is more than just a place to work but also a place to grow, to devote and to live a life that I desire. Although I am totally conscious that my sharing lines here are fairly messy and a bit unorganized, they were proudly written from the bottom of my heart with the most genuine feelings of mine. Honestly, winning a trip to Italy would be more than wonderful. If I could not, however, I am happy anyway as my bosses and my colleagues can read this and know how much I appreciate crossing paths to work with them, to be one of the team players. I cannot wait to write more pages of my journey-at-Generali book.
