Generali Spain signs a strategic agreement with Sanitas to strengthen its healthcare business

In October, Generali Spain and Sanitas announced a strategic agreement to provide more than 150,000 customers insured under the former’s health policies, as well as new customers, access to an extended health insurance offer.

The agreement will start in January 2023 and will last for 10 years, enabling the two companies to collaborate to generate synergies and improve the customer experience with personalised services that respond to their needs.

Sanitas will offer Generali’s health insurance policyholders with a medical team of 51,000 professionals, 240 contracted hospitals and 4,100 contracted medical centres, as well as its own network which includes four hospitals (three in Madrid and one in Barcelona, plus a fifth centre under construction in the Spanish capital), 20 multi-specialty medical centres and 16 wellness centres.

Generali will continue to offer its own healthcare service through its network of agents as it has done to date. This partnership is a further step in the Group’s strategy to be a Lifetime Partner for its customers, strengthen its presence in the health sector, and improve its offerings to increase customer satisfaction.

The agreement was signed by Santiago Villa, Regional Officer International - Mediterranean & Latin America and CEO of Generali Spain, and Iñaki Peralta, CEO of Sanitas and Bupa Europe & Latin America.

According to Villa, the agreement "reinforces our commitment to our customers by giving them access to a support service from one of the world's best healthcare networks. It also represents a value-added offer for our agents, who will be able to offer health insurance throughout Spain thanks to Sanitas' extensive network of health professionals and hospitals."

As Peralta emphasised, "the alliance between Generali and a specialist health company like Sanitas guarantees the best quality care and access to the most innovative digital tools for more citizens. This agreement brings more accurate, personalised and preventive medicine, a more human medicine, to all Generali customers."
