Trieste, Italian Catholic Social Week. The gift of the young people supported by The Human Safety Net presented to Pope Francis and Cardinal Zuppi

Promoting social dialogue, solidarity, and inclusion to build a fairer and more cohesive society. Based on these values and objectives, Generali supported the 50th Italian Catholic Social Week, held in Trieste, which ended on Sunday, July 7th with the participation of Pope Francis.

To mark the occasion, Generali Chairman Andrea Sironi and Group CEO Philippe Donnet, together with Simone Bemporad, Group Chief Communications & Public Affairs Officer and Deputy Chairman of The Human Safety Net, presented the Holy Father and Cardinal Matteo Maria Zuppi with gifts specially crafted by fragile young people living in vulnerable circumstances, from the social cooperative La Cometa, which is supported by The Human Safety Net.

These are poplar wood underplates depicting the Miramare Castle, one of Trieste’s landmarks. Fifty unique pieces with a personal dedication: "Taking care of the fragility of individuals and peoples means preserving Memory and Hope" - Pope Francis, Trieste 7th July 2024.

The TEAM Academy Project, managed by the La Cometa Cooperative and supported by The Human Safety Net - Generali, is an employability programme designed for young migrants and refugees so that they can learn the Italian language and become professionals through on-the-job learning to "do for real".
