Little Lionesses grow
But today, on this historic occasion, I want to let you in on a little secret: I have had the good fortune (and honour) of growing up with the stories of those who have heard the Lion "roar" since 1972. So, in honour of this anniversary, I thought I would share some photos of my memories as a "little lioness".
My pride was already evident, and I was simply happy to take part in the events organised by the company for the families of its employees. I think of the perennial Christmas parties with colleagues who volunteered to dress up as Santa Claus, the colony holidays with the CRAL (now the CRA, of which I am also a member, unthinkable at the time). Then there were the more formal occasions where I would enter on tiptoe and with the utmost respect. I was a child, but I was aware that I was touching a reality greater than myself, made up of years of history and precious people. Nevertheless, I always felt welcomed, sometimes even "pampered", and this simplicity and genuine kindness made me feel "at home".
Beyond the events, I was given something much more valuable and unique: the values of Generali and its employees. I understood that it was (and is) more than just a job, that we need qualities such as ethics and confidentiality, constant commitment and responsibility, because the protection and well-being of so many other people depend on our actions.
Of course, I was only a child and could not imagine where all these experiences would take me, but I am convinced that these teachings have guided me over the years and brought me back under the Lion's Wings. After such a close experience, how could I not want to return to this great family? And this time to make my contribution!
Which brings me to the present day, where I have become a health claims professional. I am passionate about complexity and change, about putting myself out there and leaving my comfort zone, and about engaging others with the stories of the projects I have participated in. I think of Us Brave of "Futura" in 2015, the trips to Mogliano to discover the historic and pulsating heart of the Lion; the ElleActive 2015 edition at the UniCredit Pavilion and in 2016 at the Statale in Milan on the always topical theme of empowerment in the inclusive sense (where I was also interviewed); until 04 March 2021, when I became Storymaker for the launch to the press of "Attiva Commercio". What a pride, but also what a responsibility to post on Social.
There are many educational and cultural events that we, as employees, can access to write our story together with Generali, but one in particular stands out: Hack4Strategy. It was mid-October 2018, and who would have predicted the last possible number of participants! It was an electrifying and engaging challenge, from the first to the last minute of those 30 hours of vigil. Like a sponge, I soaked up videos and talks on IoT innovations and organised thinking models such as design thinking. I never gave up! What really struck me was how you can break down barriers in such a short time and work intensively in a team of colleagues you have just met. The key lies in the common goal and in turning diversity into strength. We did not "win", and when we chased away the disappointment, we felt satisfied because together we had overcome the obstacles and achieved our goal: to design an innovative product that combines Home Security and Health Care&Prevention by creating integrated ecosystems. This made us feel part of a greater whole! We were contributing to the future strategy of the company.
Small anecdote: back in Milano Centrale, I get off the train and feel like in the movie Limitless: empowered and charged. I was talking in bursts, so much adrenaline and positive energy was coursing through my body. I call it lifeblood, and just to make you feel the power of this energy, I will confide in you that I used to wear this "simple" grey sweatshirt in dark times. It has the magic to make me relive that special day and that fruitful effort reminds me that anything is possible.
So I thank Generali for the opportunities, and myself for the curiosity and courage that made me not miss those "trains", because they helped shape the determined and more aware Lioness I am today. And the mother of a little "Simba" who may one day follow in Family's footsteps!

Piccole Leonesse crescono
La mia Storia sotto il Leone alato non vanta certo di essere lunga 190 anni, ma affonda le sue radici da più di 11 anni. Il 3 marzo 2010, è vero, sono approdata in Generali. Tuttavia, il mio legame con questa grande Famiglia è ben più profondo e nasce a tutti gli effetti con me, nel “lontano” ma non troppo 1985. Ecco di questo si tratta per me, una Famiglia, in cui ho fortemente voluto entrare tanto da lasciare il mio precedente impiego a tempo indeterminato, in tutt’altra realtà. Ho scommesso su me stessa e mi sono “buttata” con fiducia, valutando e ascoltando le parole di chi mi aveva selezionata.
Ma oggi per questa storica occasione vi voglio svelare un piccolo segreto: ho avuto la fortuna (e l’onore) di crescere con i racconti di chi il Leone lo sentiva “ruggire” dal 1972. Perciò per onorare questo Anniversario ho pensato di condividere alcune foto dei miei ricordi da “piccola leonessa”.
Il mio orgoglio era già evidente ed ero semplicemente felice di partecipare agli eventi che l’Azienda organizzava per le famiglie dei dipendenti. Penso alle immancabili feste di Natale con colleghi che si mettevano a disposizione per vestirsi da Babbo Natale, alle vacanze in colonia col CRAL (CRA oggi, di cui faccio parte anch’io, impensabile allora). Poi c’erano le occasioni più formali, in cui accedevo in “punta di piedi” e col massimo rispetto. Ero una bambina ma consapevole di toccare con mano una realtà che era più grande di me, costituita da anni di storia e persone di valore. Nonostante questo mi sono sempre sentita accolta, talvolta pure “coccolata”, e quella semplicità e gentilezza autentica mi facevano sentire a “casa”.
Eventi a parte, mi è stato tramandato qualcosa di ben più prezioso e unico: i valori di Generali e dei suoi dipendenti. Ho capito che era (ed è) più di un Lavoro, che servono qualità come etica e riservatezza, impegno costante e responsabilità, perché dal nostro operato dipendono protezione e benessere di tante altre persone.
Certo ero pur sempre una bimba e non potevo immaginare dove tutto questo vissuto mi avrebbe portata, ma sono convinta che negli anni questi insegnamenti mi abbiano fatto da guida e riportato sotto le Ali del Leone. Dopo esperienze vissute così da vicino come facevo a non desiderare di ritornare in questa grande Famiglia? E questa volta per dare il mio contributo!
Ed ecco che arrivo ai giorni nostri, in cui sono diventata una professionista dell’Area Health Claims. Appassionata di complessità e cambiamenti, che si mette in gioco ed esce dalla sua zona di comfort, coinvolgendo gli altri anche con i racconti dei progetti a cui ho preso parte. Penso a noi coraggiosi di “Futura” nel 2015, alle trasferte a Mogliano in scoperta del cuore storico e pulsante del Leone; a ElleActive edizione 2015 presso l’UniCredit Pavilion e nel 2016 in Statale a Milano sul tema, sempre attuale, dell’Empowerment in senso Inclusivo (in cui sono anche stata intervistata); fino al 04 marzo 2021 quando sono diventata Storymaker per il lancio alla Stampa di “Attiva Commercio”. Che orgoglio, ma anche che responsabilità pubblicare sui Social.
Tanti sono gli eventi formativi e culturali, a cui noi dipendenti possiamo accedere per scrivere la nostra storia al fianco di Generali, ma uno su tutti li rappresenta: Hack4Strategy. Era metà ottobre 2018 e chi l’avrebbe previsto l’ultimo fattibile in presenza! È stata una sfida elettrizzante e coinvolgente, dal 1° all’ultimo minuto di quelle 30 h di veglia. Ho assorbito come una spugna video e interventi sulle innovazioni IoT e su modelli di pensiero organizzato come il Design Thinking. Non ho mai mollato! Quello che mi colpisce molto è come si riesca in così breve tempo ad abbattere le barriere e collaborare intensivamente in un Team di colleghi appena conosciuti. La chiave di volta sta nell’obiettivo comune e nel fare delle Diversità un punto di forza. Non abbiamo “vinto” e scacciata la delusione ci siamo sentiti soddisfatti, perché avevamo superato gli ostacoli insieme e raggiunto il nostro target: delineare un prodotto innovativo, che univa la Home Security e l’Health Care&Prevention creando ecosistemi integrati. Questo ci aveva fatto sentire parte di un tutto più Grande! Stavamo contribuendo alla futura Strategy aziendale.
Piccolo aneddoto: tornata a Milano Centrale, scendo dal treno e mi sento come nel film Limitless: potenziata e carica. Parlavo a raffica, tanto erano l’adrenalina e l’energia positiva che mi scorrevano in corpo. Io la chiamo linfa vitale e tanto per farvi percepire la potenza di quell’energia, vi confido che sono solita re-indossare quella “semplice” felpa grigia nei momenti bui. Ha la magia di farmi rivivere quel giorno speciale e quella fruttuosa fatica mi fa ricordare che tutto è possibile!
Ringrazio quindi Generali per le occasioni e me stessa per la curiosità e il coraggio che non mi hanno fatto perdere quei “treni”, perché hanno contribuito a forgiare la determinata e più consapevole Leonessa che sono oggi. Nonché madre di un piccolo “Simba”, che magari un giorno ripercorrerà le orme di Famiglia!
