MY DREAM, MY REALITY, MY LIFE

If you asked me one day if I would like to go back in time and change something in my past, I would definitely say no, because there is nothing in it that I regret, but I would like to go back and remember exactly when it all started, back in 1988, when I had just graduated and was full of dreams and illusions.

That day, I remember it like it was yesterday, I received a call for an interview at the company that was then called LA NACIONAL COMPAÑÍA DE SEGUROS, I was very nervous, I approached without any experience of other interviews or jobs, but believe it or not, when I entered that place, that office, I felt it was my place, not for the moment, but for many years to come. Everyone welcomed me with kindness, willing to help me if I needed it.

The following week I was working with them as an assistant accountant, which I am proud to say was and still is my first and only job.

I have to admit that I knew nothing about insurance when I started, and I owe everything I am today in this company to those who helped me learn. Of course, many years ago we did not have the technology that surrounds us today, but we have progressed and the digital age has allowed us to go from a typewriter and huge books of accounting records to a computer that performs countless operations and databases. Of course, Generali has gone through difficult times with me, such as dollarisation and the pandemic, which have made me appreciate my work, the solidity of it and the support of working for an international company, which makes me proud to be able to work with one of the most powerful insurers in the world.

Many things have changed since those memories, as for example in the year 2000, when we changed our corporate name and we began to call ourselves GENERALI ECUADOR, or when we started new directions in the city of Guayaquil, leaving behind our offices next to the meek Guayas to start a new story in the business center of the city, and there are no more words that can magnify the feeling of being part of an Insurer that does not look at Borders, and that it is present in more than 60 countries.

And well, as Generali has changed, so have I: today, after 32 years, I work in the reinsurance sector, I am married and have two children who have grown up knowing and being part of this family called Generali, which has allowed me to educate myself, to learn other languages, to make my first trip abroad and to make achievements that today make me proud.

We are growing as a company and with us our employees, we are a company that is recognised by the support that the GENERALI GROUP gives to its customers, who trust our work.

I am now 51 years old and there are so many stories that I would not have time to finish them, because today Generali is not just a company, it is a family and each one of us has a lot to tell, stories of life and of what we have achieved together with the Lion, because who would have thought that the Monica of the past, a young graduate, would now be an Area Manager and would be happy to share what I have learnt in this company of mine.

That when I face new challenges... always, because that is what I have learnt from the Group, I smile and I sigh, a sense of belonging to a brand that has been helping the world and protecting the lives of its customers for 190 years... because we are people who help people.

MI SUEÑO, MI REALIDAD, MI VIDA

Si me preguntaran un día si yo querría viajar en el tiempo para cambiar algo en mi pasado, definitivamente diría que no, porque no hay nada en el de lo que me arrepienta, sin embargo, sí me gustaría volver atrás y recordar, específicamente cuando comenzó todo, allá en el año 1988 cuando recién me graduaba y estaba llena de sueños e ilusiones.

Ese día, aun lo recuerdo como si fuera ayer, recibí una llamada para una entrevista en la compañía que en aquel entonces se llamaba LA NACIONAL COMPAÑÍA DE SEGUROS, yo muy nerviosa me acerque sin ninguna experiencia en otras entrevistas o trabajos, pero, aunque ustedes no lo crean, cuando pise ese lugar, esa oficina, yo sentí que era mi lugar, no por el momento, si no para muchos años más. Todos me recibieron con amabilidad, dispuestos a darme una mano por si la necesitaba.

Es así que ya a la semana siguiente yo me encontraba trabajando con ellos en el puesto de auxiliar contable, ese fue y es, con mucho orgullo, mi primer y único empleo.

Quiero admitir que cuando comencé no sabía nada de seguros, todo lo que hoy en día soy dentro de esta compañía es gracias a quienes que me ofrecieron una mano en mi aprendizaje. Claro que hace mucho años no contábamos con la tecnología que hoy en día nos rodea pero fuimos avanzando y la era digital nos permitió desarrollarnos, de una máquina de escribir y libros inmensos de registro contable a una computadora que realiza innumerables operaciones y bases de datos. Queda decir que Generali, junto conmigo, ha pasado por tiempos difíciles como la dolarización y la pandemia, que me permitieron apreciar mi trabajo, la solidez en él y el respaldo de trabajar para una compañía internacional, todo un orgullo para mí el poder trabajar con uno de los Aseguradores más poderosos del mundo.

Han cambiado muchas cosas desde aquellos recuerdos, como por ejemplo en el año 2000, cuando cambiamos de razón social y nos empezamos a llamar GENERALI ECUADOR, o cuando empezamos nuevos rumbos en la ciudad de Guayaquil, dejando atrás nuestras oficinas junto al manso Guayas para comenzar una nueva historia en el centro de negocios de la ciudad, y es que no hay más palabras que puedan engrandecer el sentimiento de formar parte de un Asegurador que no mira Fronteras, y que está presente en más de 60 países.

Y bueno, así como Generali cambió, yo también lo hice, ahora, después de 32 años, trabajo en el área de Reaseguros, estoy casada y tengo dos hijos que han crecido conociendo y siendo parte de esta familia llamada Generali, la cual me permitió capacitarme, aprender otros idiomas, realizar mi primer viaje al extranjero, y realizar logros que hoy en día me enorgullecen.

Vamos creciendo como empresa y junto a ella también nosotros sus colaboradores, somos una empresa reconocida por el respaldo que el GRUPO GENERALI brinda a sus clientes, quienes confían en nuestro trabajo.

Ahora tengo 51 años, y las historias son tantas, que no me alcanzaría el relato ni el tiempo para terminarlas, porque hoy Generali no es solo una empresa, es una familia, cada uno de nosotros tiene mucho que contar, historias de vida y de superación que logramos junto al León, porque quien diría que la Monica de antaño, recién graduada, ahora sería Jefa de área y que disfruta de compartir lo que aprendí en esta mi empresa.

Que si tengo nuevos retos…siempre, porque eso aprendí del Grupo, sonrío y suspiro, me inunda un sentido de pertenencia a una marca que durante estos 190 años ha dado respaldo al mundo y ha logrado proteger la vida de sus clientes…porque somos Gente que ayuda a la Gente.
