Supporting Families in Sham Shui Po: Generali Hong Kong's Commitment to Child Development and Community Well-Being
Hong Kong is a vibrant and competitive city, but it also faces some social challenges. The increasing cost of living and the growing divide between social classes have left many, especially those in underprivileged areas, at a disadvantage. As part of Generali Group’s global commitment to ensure that people can have a safer and more sustainable future, Generali Hong Kong has made it our mission to address these pressing issues.
In Hong Kong, our global vision takes on a local dimension through The Human Safety Net’s For Families Program in partnership with OneSky, to support young children (aged 0 - 6) and families living on the margins. We recognize the importance of conditions which allow young children to thrive. We have therefore targeted one of the city’s most disadvantaged districts, Sham Shui Po. Many families in this area live in subdivided flats, very small and cramped living spaces without separate rooms where they must cook, eat, sleep, and have their children play and do homework all within the same confined area, making daily life extremely challenging.
Since 2020, we have collaborated with OneSky to launch the First Community Living Room for young children’s development in Sham Shui Po and provide caregiver skills training and create safe, educational play spaces for those in need. This partnership is testament to our commitment to creating lasting impact, demonstrating that our collaboration is a longstanding, consistent, well-structured, and sustained initiative. We have supported OneSky in their growth and development - from helping them establish their first center to continually expanding their services to better serve the wider community.
