Generali Partners with Sailability Hong Kong to Provide Inclusive Opportunities to Persons with Disabilities
03 December 2024 - 11:00
Hong Kong, December 3, 2024 – In celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Generali is proud to announce its sponsorship of Sailability Hong Kong, an initiative dedicated to providing local sailing opportunities to individuals with disabilities. This partnership underscores Generali's strong commitment to fostering Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) within the organisation and across the Group’s global communities, including Asia.
Sailability, a global "not-for-profit" charitable organisation, enriches the lives of people with disabilities through sailing. Founded in 2009, Sailability is breaking down barriers that prevent individuals from participating in sailing due to financial constraints or physical and mental challenges, and promotes accessibility for everyone. A variety of programs are available for participants who aspire to compete at local, regional, and international levels. Sailability partners with organisations such as Generali to ensure these opportunities remain accessible to the disabled community. As the MoHan sponsor, Generali’s logo will be shown on the mainsail and hull of the Sailability Hong Kong boat.
Rob Leonardi, Asia Regional Officer, said, “Our partnership with Sailability Hong Kong reflects our belief that inclusion must be everywhere if it is to be anywhere. While we are fully committed to nurturing DEI across our teams, we’re equally enthusiastic about doing our part as a Responsible Corporate Citizen to promote and encourage it in our communities. Sailability is doing excellent work bringing the beauty of sailing to those who may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience it, and I’m eager to see the impact that we can make together.”
Giuseppe Randazzo, Head of Communications & Public Affairs for Asia, said, “I’m always moved when we’re able to support an organisation that is making a significant difference in people’s lives and Sailability Hong Kong’s mission really resonated with us. Giving sailing opportunities to disabled persons is both an affirmation of the power of sport to make progress towards inclusion, and a way to communicate that anything is possible when we work together. We’re delighted to be involved and look forward to smooth sailing towards the impact we aim to make.”
Kay Rawbone, Founder and Director, Sailability, said, “We are honoured to welcome Generali as our new MoHan sponsor on this special International Day of Persons with Disabilities, 3rd December 2024. The acquisition of MoHan in 2022, with the support of the Li Ka Shing Foundation and Enrico Zanella from Solaris Yachts Asia, opened a new chapter for Sailability Hong Kong Limited, as we looked to offer additional therapeutic, accessible and inclusive sailing to our sailors and those who work with us. MoHan has taken our sailing programs to a very different level enabling us to reach out to more people within our community to experience ‘big boat sailing’ with an inclusive crew, competitive racing, team building training, and for some a cruising experience with family and friends. With Generali's sponsorship our programs will continue to be supported as we introduce and provide additional opportunities for sailing within the community, whilst also highlighting the abilities of our sailors with various life challenges. Together, we will 'Make Sailing Accessible to EVERYONE'. Thank you once again for this most generous donation and your support to our charity.”
