Generali endows Chair in European Policies at Bocconi University
General Manager Marco Sesana took part in an event presenting this newly established academic position, which will further strengthen the partnership between the Group and Bocconi University.
Generali strengthens its collaboration with Milan’s Bocconi University with the establishment of a new academic position: the Generali Endowed Chair in European Policies – Shaping Leadership in Europe, presented on February 7th during the lectio inauguralis at the university.
Marco Sesana, Generali Group General Manager, commented: “The insurance sector plays a strategic role for our economy, it intercepts and interprets the challenges of an evolving society. For this reason Generali, for over twenty years alongside Bocconi University, today supports a new Chair in the area of European Policies, dedicated to one of the major current international issues, the EU and its architecture, fundamental to understand the next phase of the European construction process.”
Assigned to Professor Catherine De Vries, the Chair will pay special attention in its research activities to increasing the EU’s effectiveness and accountability by examining possible institutional and operational reforms, leadership models, and political dynamics involving the European Union.
The event continued with a round table hosted by Tony Barber, European Editor of the Financial Times, with Simon Hix, Stein Rokkan Chair in Comparative Politics, European University Institute, Cecilia Malmström, former European Commissioner for Trade and Home Affairs, and Nathalie Tocci, Director of Istituto Affari Internazionali.
The collaboration between Generali and Bocconi began in 1996 and exemplifies the shared commitment to creating a robust and sustainable future for Europe. Over the years, they have partnered for training programmes dedicated to Generali employees as well as for masters, research, and high-level forums.
